Welcome to Just-Petula, a list-server with a strict emphasis on one person: Miss Petula Clark. This list is co-moderated by representatives for the IPCS and www.petulaclark.net, which are Petula Clark's officially endorsed web site and fan organization.

We encourage you to share your thoughts, your affection, your enthusiasm -- and most importantly, your facts--about this remarkably talented, thrilling, complex performer, during this, her sixtieth year as a recording artist. We only ask that you follow these eight basic guidelines. These may seem a bit stern, but they are established so that every subscriber can expect only meaningful and relevant discussions of Petula Clark.

1. Always stay "on-topic." Before sending any message, ask yourself this one basic question: "Am I discussing Petula's career?" (And even better yet, "Am I discussing her career with some substance?")
   
   

2. Please avoid "one-liner" postings. Messages saying simply "I agree," or "That was very funny," tell us nothing about Petula Clark. If you wish to respond to a member's comment in this way, please do so privately.
   
   

3. Please avoid questions about Petula of an extremely personal nature. This list is focused on Petula's career--not her private life. Occasional, friendly inquiries about her comings and goings are fine, but please refrain from "tabloid"-level discussions of Petula's life.
   
   

4. This is not a marketplace for those wishing to sell audio or video recordings, tickets, photos, etc. If you wish to find/buy/trade Petula memorabilia, consult with the PetNet classified ads. However, do be advised that the sale and advertising of bootlegged items can not be posted on Miss Clark's official web site nor discussed on the listserve. Also, requests for file sharing in any format or burning CDs, DVDs or video of copyrighted material from other members is not permitted on this listserve.
   
   

5. File attachments, whether in the form of text files or photographs, are not permitted on Just Petula. They can cause some subscribers' systems to crash, and also have the potential to spread computer viruses. If you have a photo you'd like to share, feel free to contact Laurie privately (lauriez@petulaclark.net) and she will designate a place for it somewhere online.
   
   

6. "Civility" is the rule of the day here. Inflammatory or inappropriate messages will NOT be posted and repeated offenses may result in a member being asked to leave.
   
   

7. Concert reviews, CD/DVD/video/television/radio reviews, vocal performance reviews or commentaries will only be posted that are from a professional media source. Please refrain from offering your own appraisals, "reviews" or relating and quoting stories from a performance you have seen. The Internet is a wonderful source for information but it is a public forum and the interaction between a performer and audience is an intensely private experience and is something that Petula prefers to be experienced individually by each listener and requests that it not be discussed publicly. We certainly do not wish to curb your enthusiasm and providing a song list or a brief comment or two is most welcomed.
   
   
8. Finally, please do not post messages with links to Youtube or other websites which feature bootlegged and/or unauthorized and unlicensed Petula-related content and media.

As in the past, this will be a "moderated" list, which means that every message sent must be approved by the moderators prior to its distribution, to ensure that each message adheres to the above guidelines. This may result in an occasional delay in the distribution of anything you post. Please be patient.

This list is available in both "Normal" and "Digest" form. "Normal" means you'll receive postings by individual subscribers throughout the day. "Digest" means you'll receive one or two larger e-mails per day containing everyone's messages combined. You are automatically subscribed in "Normal" form. If you'd prefer a "Digest" subscription, please contact Laurie privately at lauriez@petulaclark.net.

Please introduce yourself – and your love of Petula – to the list at large by addressing your message to: just-petula@yahoogroups.com (don't forget the hyphen!) Also, in terms of List etiquette, it would be greatly appreciated if you would kindly double-check that your subject label reflects the topic you will be discussing. It would also be helpful if you didn't just hit the reply button to respond to a posting, as this sometimes generates unnecessarily large, lengthy e-mails.

We hope you aren't intimidated by any of the above guidelines. As long as you adhere to all of the above, we'll welcome every word you have to offer.
